Jadbinder Seehra


Jadbinder qualified with Honours from University of Manchester in 2002 and undertook his specialty orthodontic training at both Guys and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust and Kent and Canterbury Hospitals. He was awarded his MSc with Merit from Kings College London, and obtained the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) in 2009.

During his training he has treated many complex cases, adult and child patients and multidisciplinary cases using a range of orthodontic appliances and techniques. He is a current Royal College of Surgeons MJDF examiner and has held the position of Chairman of the National Training Grades Group of the British Orthodontic Society in 2011.

Alison Murray 

 


Alison Murray completed her specialty training at the Eastman Dental Hospital, London in 1985. She became a Consultant in 1989 at the Eastman and Mount Vernon hospitals. In 1994 she moved to Derbyshire and took up her current post in Derby.  She has always been involved in orthodontic education of specialists, general dental practitioners and orthodontic therapists. She has also been involved in randomised multi-centred clinical trials. She runs a small private practice and also writes expert witness reports.

Karen Juggins 

 

Karen completed her orthodontic specialist training at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust and The Eastman Dental Institute (UCL), London. She was appointed as a Consultant Orthodontist at The Royal Stoke University Hospital in 2006.

She is passionate about the delivery of high quality orthodontic treatment and is extensively involved in teaching and training. She has examined nationally and internationally for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She is also the Royal College of Surgeons orthodontic representative for clinical standards. Karen has a particular interest in orthognathic surgery and quality of life, and also in patient motivation and engagement. She is the founder of @keepStokesmiling and the BOS supported #keepbritainsmiling campaign

Nadia Ahmed


   Nadia qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2007. Following her VT year in Derbyshire, she gained experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in West Yorkshire and in Birmingham, whilst gaining her MJDF from the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

Subsequently she worked in Manchester Children’s hospital working in Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Radiology, Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. Nadia carried out her specialist training in Leeds.

Alongside this, she passed her MSc with merit and carried out research in auto-transplantation of teeth. She was the treasurer of the BOS TGG group during the final year of her training.
She passed the MOrth in 2016 and gained membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

She has enjoyed gaining experience in both NHS and private specialist practice and in secondary care since completing her MOrth. Nadia completed her invisalign certification in 2017. She is also an examiner for the MJDF at the Royal College of Surgeons, England.

In her spare time, she enjoys baking, art classes, travelling and Bollywood dance.

Kurt Finnigan 

   I qualified in with B.D.A in 1987 from Otago University, (NZ).I worked 2 years as a Dental House Officer at Kew Hospital, Invercargill, New Zealand. In 1990 I arrived in the UK and elected to do GDP Vocational Training in the West Midlands Scheme. Following his VT training he was invited to join Kneale and  Butler and  Practice of General Dentistry in Welshpool in Powys and in Bishops Castle Shropshire England.

 In 1993 I completed the West Midlands Post Graduate Deanery Orthodontic Clinical Assistantship under the supervision of Mr. John Chadwick at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
 I continue to practice general dentistry and have been accredited by the Welsh Deanery as having a Special Interest in Orthodontics.  In 2006 I became a DF1 trainer/Educational Supervisor for the North Wales DF1 Training Scheme. In 2013 I was runner up in the BMJ Best Awards Wales Deanery for services in Primary Care.  I am enthusiastic about the NHS and seeing it modernized to meet the needs of the local community. He is an active member of the Managed Clinical Network in Orthodontics and Local Practitioners Network. I am married and have 4 children. My wife is a GP
 I have interests Rugby, cricket and is active as a Referee for the NMSRFR Society. Other interests include Squash, horses and skiing.

Sean Masterson 

   Qualified from Sheffield in 1989 and have worked as a GDP in Derbyshire for the last twenty three years. I have served on the local dental committee and more recently as secretary of the local orthodontic MCN ,the practioner group of the BOS and the Grants and Scholarships committee of the BOS. I am married to Alicen and have four lively,energetic and exhausting children.

 Celia Topping 

   Following qualification I worked in the Hospital service in oral surgery, then joined the Community Dental service treating children, patients with special needs and the elderly. I completed     orthodontic specialist training in Cardiff and worked in specialist practice for 16 years, with a part time lecturer post in Cardiff Dental Hospital for 10 years. Recently I moved to a specialist post within the CDS in South Wales.  I am also on the specialist list in Paediatric dentistry, and an examiner for DipOT at RCS England.

My role is to represent the Training Grades Group on the BOS Clinical Standards Committee. This involves reporting views and issues from the TGG members to this committee and to be involved in information provision for patients to help ensure high clinical standards for patients.

Simon Watkinson 

   Simon Watkinson undertook his undergraduate training at the University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He then undertook a number of training jobs prior to his specialist training in Liverpool. He completed his Consultant training in Manchester.

He is now a Consultant Orthodontist at both East Lancashire NHS Trust and Manchester Foundation Trust. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at Manchester University and supervisor for the University of Central Lancashire. Simon’s main area of clinical interest is in the treatment of patients requiring orthognathic surgery, those with hypodontia and those with impacted teeth. His main research interest is in early intervention for patients with a Class III malocclusion.

Simon is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh

Andrea Waylen 

   Andrea Waylen is a Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences at Bristol Dental School. She teaches social science, communication skills and ethics to dental undergraduate and post-graduate students. She undertook her first degree in Psychology at the University of Reading and her PhD in risky behaviour was completed there in 2002. 
Andrea’s research interests include quality of life for people with facial disfigurement (particularly related to head and neck cancer and cleft lip and palate) and the associations between risky behaviour, health-related behaviour and health outcomes.

He undertook further consultant training at the Eastman Dental Institute and Ashford & St Peters Hospitals. He was appointed Consultant Orthodontist at Ashford & St Peters NHS Foundation Trust in 2018.

He has been actively involved in the profession wide complaints handling initiative working group as the BOS representative.
